Quinchos
Built2016 · Santuario del Valle
The quincho does not adjoin the house—it extends it. The structure of concrete pillars and wooden beams creates a covered volume that functions as a transitional space between the interior of the residence and the garden: neither completely inside nor completely outside. Floor-to-ceiling sliding glass panels allow the space to be opened or closed depending on the season. When open, the quincho merges with the wooden deck and garden; when closed, it becomes an interior dining area with all the warmth of exposed beams and pendant lighting. Fixed furnishings are part of the architecture: the reinforced concrete countertop that runs through the bar area is an integral piece—solid, continuous, without joints—that defines the program without the need for additional furniture.
