Project2022 · Chile
Chile is one of the world's largest copper producers. This memorial builds upon that reality to construct a question about the relationship between a territory's natural resources and its inhabitants. The structure is a copper core: semitransparent, changeable, alive. Its skin is composed of light boxes distributed randomly that project images toward the interior of the central void. As one moves through it, the vibration of the metal accompanies each step. The water mirror duplicates it downward, converting the reflection into part of the work. The result does not shout — it whispers. Hence the name. The architecture proposes a space for contemplation, a place to pause, look, and remember something that we all know and rarely speak about. International Terraviva competition.
